In April 2012, bill HB12-1359 was introduced in the Colorado House of Representatives, which sought to prohibit the Colorado Lottery Commission from authorizing an internet lottery. The bill was defeated, and as of May 2015 there is no new legislation regarding online lottery tickets sales.
In May 2012, the Colorado Gaming Association drafted a bill that aims to legalize online poker in Colorado. The proposed bill is modeled after a similar online gambling bill in New Jersey which passed in February 2013. The Colorado Gaming Association has yet to push the bill into the Colorado state legislature.
On 10 June 2016, Colorado became the fifth state to enact daily fantasy sports law when Gov. John Hickenlooper signed H 1404. The Division of Professions and Occupations is currently responsible for oversight of the industry. Additionally, contests including amateur sporting events, such as college sports, are prohibited under the bill.
